You can find all up-to-date information about class times on Glofox.
Before attending your first class please book a spot on Glofox and complete the waiver form.
First class is £5, then all other classes are £8
If you are engaged in a current Empire Fighting Chance programme, you are more than welcome to join these sessions once your EFC programme has ended.
The class is 1 hour, and consists of a warm-up, technique, conditioning (more intense workouts), and a cool-down. All exercises and drills can be adjusted to suit your ability. This is a beginner friendly class.
Turn up 10 minutes before the start of class and sign in at reception. Make yourself known to your coach. They will welcome you and can help you put on handwraps if you have them.

Yes. This class is suited to mixed abilities, however it is a beginner friendly class, and will focus on teaching the basics of boxing, and working out together in a safe space :)
I am currently not feeling fit and/or feel like I’m bad at sports, is it okay for me to join? Absolutely! We hope that this class can help you to learn a new set of skills and get fit in a positive and welcoming environment

This is a space for LGBTQIA+ people only. We will not ask anyone to ‘prove’ their identity, and trust people to exercise their judgement about if this group is best suited for them given the limited capacity. There are other classes throughout the week which you can check out here.
-
You don’t need any equipment to come along, just clothes you feel comfortable exercising in, and a bottle of water. If you have your own pair of boxing gloves and/or wraps please bring them (these can be purchased at reception). We recommend you wear shoes with a flat sole as this makes it easier to move around in your boxing stance, but this is not a must
-
The gym is not an LGBTQIA+ only space.
There are communal male and female changing facilities which are shared with other gym members. There is a single accessible toilet which includes a shower. There are four gender neutral toilet cubicles.
The space we will be using is a good size, private and unable to be looked into. It has 10 boxing bags, a boxing ring and no mirrors on the walls.
Bring £1 coin if you wish to use the lockers
The environment can be busy and noisy. If you have any aids that help you to feel more comfortable in the session, feel free to bring along.

We know binders are super important to those who wear them. However, we would not recommend that you wear one during class as they can impact breathing and mobility. If you’ve had top surgery recently, it’s best to get the go-ahead from your GP first as we are not medically trained to advise on this. Boxing and training uses your arms a lot, so some movements might feel uncomfortable. Please let us know if anything doesn’t feel right.
-
It depends on the nature of the injury. Minor muscle ache or similar is probably fine but as we are not medical professionals, we cannot give advice beyond that. There will be space at the beginning of the class for you to disclose any injuries to the coach, this helps us to keep you safe and suggest possible modifications. If the coach thinks it’s not safe for you to train that day, their decision is final.
-
Without knowing the specifics, we cannot give a definitive answer. Accessibility and inclusion really matter to us, and we’ll do our best to make things work within what’s possible. Please get in touch to chat about your specific needs.
For context: the gym is step-free and brightly lit with white overhead lights. There’s always background noise and a bell for each boxing round. We can adjust some of these things.

All the coaches are qualified boxing tutors or have been trained by England boxing, meaning they have been assessed on their coaching skills, had safeguarding training, first aid training and are DBS checked. The building has been risk assessed and the club is insured.
This class will only ever be led by an LGBTQIA+ coach, discrimination is not welcome in the space.
We are always looking to improve our services and welcome any feedback or support from members.
