General

Can I visit to look around?

You are welcome to come and have a look round, at any time, just drop in during opening hours, no appointment is necessary.

How to find us?

Our address is Bristol Boxing Gym, The Mill, Lower Ashley Road, Easton, Bristol, BS5 0YJ. We are based just off the M32 junction 3 heading towards Easton and then straight onto the slip road for Lower Ashley Road where you will see the gym located on the corner opposite Junction 3 housing. The postcode BS5 0YJ works fine with sat navs.

Can I attend the gym at any time?

Yes. We have lots of classes daily for you to attend but you are free to use the gym at any time during our opening times.

Do I need any prior boxing experience?

Not at all. In fact, most of our members are absolute beginners and come to us having never put on a pair of boxing gloves before.

How fit do I need to be to start?

It does not matter it is our job to get you fit. In the gym we have all ages, shapes, and sizes! Most members that join for the first time need to work on their fitness. So, if you are in good general health, we can get you where you want to be.

What should I wear?

In your first visit to the gym, you need to bring basic training gear consisting of trainers, shorts or tracksuit bottoms, t-shirt or sweatshirt and a bottle of water (on sale at the gym) to keep you hydrated.

What equipment do I need to box?

Adults (Age 17+) - you will need hand wraps (worn underneath the gloves) to protect your hands whilst punching the bags and a skipping rope, these can be purchased at our online store or at the gym for £5 each. Due to Covid-19 we are currently unavailable to lend out gloves so you must purchase your own pair of boxing gloves also on sale in our online store or at the gym starting from £15. If you have any queries on boxing equipment our coaches at the gym will be on hand to advise you.

It is my first-time boxing will I need help?

Yes, you will need coaching to begin boxing training. This can be done by either signing up to a class (BOXFIT or Technique Class) where the coach can teach you the basics or for the best start possible book a personal training session. For Juniors, please attend the Junior Boxing Lessons class.

Do you provide boxing gloves?

Due to Covid-19 we are currently unavailable to lend out gloves so you must purchase your own pair of boxing gloves also on sale in our online store or at the gym starting from £15. If you have any queries on boxing equipment our coaches at the gym will be on hand to advise you.

Is boxing just for boys?

No, it is certainly not! All our classes are mixed, and boxing has become more and more popular for females. We do also offer a female only boxing classes too.

Facilities

Is there free parking at the gym?

Yes, there is free car parking in the gym car park. If that is full then the streets around the gym are all free to park. We also have bike racks directly outside the entrance.

Are there changing facilities and showers in The Gym?

Yes, we have male and female changing rooms with showers at the gym.

Are there lockers?

Yes. We have secure lockers at the gym to store your items. Tokens are available at reception.

Can I cycle to your gym?

Yes. We have bike racks directly outside the main entrance under CCTV. Bikes are not allowed inside the gym.

Adult Memberships

WHAT IS THE ADULT MEMBERSHIP COST?

(Age 17+)

£49.00 per month (standing order, no contract).

£59.00 Joining fee for 1 month only.

£119.00 Joining fee for 3 months.

£209.00 Joining fee for 6 months.

£359.00 Joining fee for 12 months.

Non Member Drop In £10.00.

Once you are a member of the Bristol Boxing Gym you can attend as often as you like anytime during the opening times and all classes are free.

What's the best way to join?

Sign up for a membership via our website here where you can avoid delays when attending the gym. All the paperwork can be completed online and then you can manage your membership via our website or the TeamUp app to book classes, etc.

I want to join in person at the gym not online?

We can process your membership at reception but please give it 10-15 minutes before a class to give us time to sign you up. We do recommend to join online to avoid delays.

I want to pay cash for my membership?

No problem we accept cash at reception and can get you signed up. Please just come 10 minutes before the class so we can get you all signed up in time.

What happens to my membership during a Covid lockdown?

With any government lockdown we will freeze your membership until the gym is allowed to reopen. If you pay via a montly standing order we advise you not to cancel this and we will reimburse you for each month the gym is closed.

How do I cancel my membership?

All memberships that are purchased for a specific time period such as 3 months or 6 months will end automatically on their expiry date. For monthly recurring memberships, please contact the Reception Manager via rhiannon@westcountryboxing.com

Adult Classes

How do I book classes?

To book a class just go to the Timetable page of our website or download the free TeamUp Members App.

I’m an Adult beginner what class is best for me?

The best two classes to start with at Bristol Boxing Gym are the BOXFIT and Technique classes. Our coach will be on hand to teach you the basics of boxing to get you started. To really get a head start with your boxing we recommend booking a personal training session with one of our experienced coaches.

Can I attend the Empire Amateur Boxing Club sessions?

You can only join the Empire ABC sessions if you have a serious ambition to box competitively as an amateur boxer and are of a certain level ready to spar.

Do you have female only classes?

Yes we have weekly classes for women only boxing classes with a female coach. These are on a Tuesday 18.15 to 19.15 and Friday 17.45 to 18.45. All our other classes are mixed.

Juniors

What age can my child start boxing?

We accept children from 9 years old. Younger children will not be allowed to attend.

WHAT IS THE JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP COST?

(Juniors Age 9 – 16) You must buy the Junior Membership which consists of a £20.00 joining fee (Includes water bottle, skipping rope, hand wraps).

When your child attends the gym for a class they must purchase a Junior Boxing Lessons for £5 on the memberships page and that includes all the junior classes that week. Please ensure you book your child on to the classes they will attend on the timetable or the Teamup app on your smart phone so its easy to sign them in at reception.

What’s included in the Junior Membership?

Juniors (Age 9-16) – when you pay £20 to join the junior membership you will receive a free Bristol Boxing Gym Water Bottle, skipping rope and hand wraps. When your child attends the gym it's £5 and that includes all the junior classes that week.

Are Junior classes mixed?

Yes, all our junior classes are mixed classes for males and females.

My child wants to start boxing when should I bring him/her?

The best class for children to start learning to box is our Junior Boxing Lessons class. This is a non-contact class focused on boxing technique, fitness and fun.

What's the best way to join up my child?

Sign up for a junior membership via our website here where you can avoid delays when attending the gym. All the paperwork can be completed online and then you can manage the membership via our website or the TeamUp app to book classes, etc. The free equipment for your Junior membership will then be available for you to collect when you attend the first time.

What should my child bring to the first session?

When a junior joins the gym membership they will receive a water bottle, skipping rope and hand wraps. During Covid we are unable to lend out boxing gloves so they will need to bring their own gloves, or we sell them on our online store or at the gym. For clothing just wear your usual clothing for exercise including trainers, tracksuit bottoms or shorts, t-shirt, and hoodie/jumper.

As a parent or guardian can I watch the class?

Parents or guardians are not allowed to watch the class due to space restrictions. You are welcome to wait in reception or leave them to do some quick shopping but make sure your back before the class ends!
